Area: Coaching Supvervision

Michel Moral spent most of his career in an international environment as a manager and executive. In 2003 he created a coaching and supervision practice. He holds a Master degree in Science & Technology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. He has published a total of ten books related to coaching and management. He trains coaches at university level, supervises coaches and trains supervisors with Florence Lamy.

We observed that the population of supervisors and coaches attending a supervision training are different in the way they react to specific situations. We were wondering if their level of maturity is superior to coaches and the general population. In order to clarify this question we conducted a quantitative study on a population of supervisor’s trainees and supervisees to understand if they have a specific defensive style. We used the Bond’s Defense Style Questionnaire in its 72 items version. We compared with a population of coaches and with the general population. Results show that coaches and supervisors have less immature defenses than the general population but that supervisors and coaches are not that different.
