Coaching between Magic and Science

Type: Coaching

Session on Tuesday, Jun 23th, 16:50
» Where on timetable

Olaf ┼╗ylicz is a professor of psychology, interested mainly in organizstional behavior, business ethics, and development of managers/leaders’ competencies. He also has managerial experience, recently as a deputy director of Warsaw University of Technology Business School. Having received a Practitioner Coach Diploma from Noble Manhattan Coaching he has been serving for over 10 years as coach, and coaching trainer in Poland and abroad. Research-wise he has investigated both coachees’ competencies and coaching effectiveness.

Coaching has proliferated as a development tool for over 20 years. The number of people who claim to be coaches soars exponentially. Does quantity produce better quality, evidence-based new approaches, scientifically proved competencies of coaches or more advanced techniques of effectiveness measurement? In many respects contemporary coaching has been plagued by magic, wishful thinking assumptions and practices. Are there any clear signs of hope?
